Homemade Family Time

  • 300g Flour
  • 50g Stork tub
  • 50g Sugar
  • 5 tbs Baking powder
  • 60ml Just-Milk
  • 70g Sultanas
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ Lemon zest



- Food processor with main knife blade OR Kenwood Chef or kMix with K beater



  • Attach the K Beater to the stand mixer or the knife blade to the food processor. 
  • Cut the butter (which must be cold) into small cubes.
  • Place the flour, baking powder, lemon zest, sugar and butter into the bowl
  • Switch to speed 2 and mix until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  • With the machine running, add the butter milk and eggs. 
  • Mix until they form a dough, but be careful not to overwork, then add the sultanas
  • Place the mixture onto a floured work surface and roll out to a thickness of 3 cm.
  • Dip a 6cm round pastry cutter in flour, then cut out the scones and turn them over onto a baking tray.
  • Allow to rest for 5 minutes, then brush the tops lightly with milk and bake in a preheated oven set at 220ºC/Fan 180 ºC/Gas 6. 
  • Bake for 5 minutes then turn the temperature down to 180ºC/ Fan 160 ºC/Gas 4 and bake for a further 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Take out of the oven and rest on a cooling rack.
